The Scoop: Narberth Opening Day Recap!

Narberth Grand Opening Recap!

Last Saturday was our GRAND OPENING in Narberth, PA and we’re still a bit awestruck by the warm and hearty response from the community! A huge thank you to the Narberth Business Association for all of the promotional support, and to Philly Grub and Philadelphia Magazine for covering our launch.

Our friends and supporters did an extraordinary job of getting the word out about Pinwheel’s opening, and it was a thrill to meet and greet so many new friends. We were delighted by the number of visitors who embraced our BYOC (Bring Your Own Container) concept and brought theirs along to fill up with our frozen goods. We are always excited to share samples of our product with visitors. On Saturday, we had the following on offer: Masala Kofta over Jyoti Basmati Supreme rice, our Superfood Medley, and our Southwestern Sweet Potatoes. The samples were consumed with enthusiasm all day long, with the Southwestern Sweet Potatoes as a particular hit with littlest guests (many who otherwise “didn’t like sweet potatoes”!)

We were amazed to find that we were nearly out of inventory by early afternoon!

Here’s a few examples of the types of shoppers who found just what they needed at Pinwheel on Saturday:

  • Busy moms & dads who are working but want to be able to feed their families healthy and tasty meals with minimal prep and waste. We showed them how combining a Ready Dish (cooked in the microwave for a few minutes) with some fresh frozen veggies right from the freezer (5-15 minutes, depending) and a grain, pasta or sauce from our Meal Makers selection can form a complete, delicious meal in less than 30 minutes.

  • Empty-nesters who seek smaller portions of the food they like to eat. One woman purchased a few Individual Stuffed Chicken Parmesans and some local green beans for meals with her husband, and also a couple of our Smoky Black Bean Chili Ready Meals for the nights when just one of them needed a quick dinner. Another woman was relieved to be able to purchase the small quantities of fresh frozen produce and the smaller portion Ready Dishes for herself without worrying about food spoilage or waste.

  • The eco-conscious family who implements small changes in their lifestyle in hopes of making a larger impact on their community. These small changes include biking wherever possible (check out Narberth Cycling Club here!) and bringing their own containers to our store. We are pleased to support their efforts to help limit the usage of plastic in their daily lives and in their community!

If any of the above sound like you, we do hope you’ll stop in to learn more about us. On the other hand, if you fit better into one of the categories below, we are also the place for you:

  • College student - we have so many dishes that are perfect for the microwaves and toaster ovens of your dorms and apartments, and we cater to many dietary restrictions including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and more. Plus, show us your student ID and get a discount!

  • Beginning cooks - we will hold your hand and teach you how to combine the elements in our store to make something way more than basic.

  • Food enthusiasts - if you love serving great meals to your family & friends but can’t always seek out all the ingredients needed for different cuisines, or all the prep time that may be required, we’ve got you. We carry foundational sauces/bases for a number of cuisines, and we greatly reduce your cooking time with our washed, prepped, ready-to-use frozen produce that never goes bad!

We are now open from 10-4 on Fridays and Saturdays and expect to add some weekday hours within a few weeks. Stop in and get to know us! There’s always something to sample, too: this week it will be our locally raised Locust Point Farm Chicken Thighs and our local sweet peas simmered in Serious Foodie Romesco Sauce, as well as our Smoky Black Bean Chili Ready Dish (great for vegetarian/vegan diets.). We are so looking forward to showing you the Pinwheel way!
